World of Weaponcrafting: Staff of Hidden Master

This could have been the easiest weapon that I made complicated… It’s a freaking piece of bamboo, for crying out loud. But did I just buy a piece of bamboo? No, of course not! It’s a dowel with Bondo that I purposely spread very poorly to get all the grooves, etc to make it look like bamboo. I think it ultimately came out alright. The hardest part was getting the right color and wrapping the ribbon to be perfect. I edited this one for practicality… it’s missing the bottom spike because it just wouldn’t have held up. I’m glad I did, instead of having a crushed spike…

For the ribbon wrapping, I used one long length of ribbon. I “measured” first by wrapping it around the staff loosely, then doubling and cutting. Then I folded the ribbon in half and started overlapping each section. I used puzzle saver glue, of all things, to help secure the ribbon. The glue actually worked perfectly.

The booze bottle is an emptied Pom Wonderful bottle! It’s about as close as it could be without having to make something. I sanded down the seams on the bottle and scuffed it up enough to be painted, though it took several coats.
